This week I was at a women, wine and wealth event in Orlando, and we each got a moment to introduce ourselves and our work to the group. I talked about being a Life and Sex Coach and Sexuality Educator, and how the work is so much bigger than sex itself... it's really about helping people create the life they want. Sexuality, whether you're having sex or not, is such a huge part of that. The stories and limiting beliefs we carry about sex and sexuality touch every area of our lives.
One of the hosts, along with a colleague of hers from Colorado, made the really cool connection that the limiting beliefs we have about sex and sexuality are very similar to money and wealth.
I loved that. And it reminded me of an activity I did about four years ago... one I still have the original sheet of paper for.
The Stick Figure Activity
The activity started simple. You personify money. You literally draw a stick figure and label it "money," then start thinking about your relationship with it, because that relationship begins with your thoughts. I took it further. I drew a line down the middle of the page. On one side was my money stick figure. On the other, a stick figure for love.

Then I wrote down my thoughts about each one and looked for the overlap... which thoughts showed up on both sides.

This was 2022, and what I found was surprising, and also not that surprising at all. Almost every limiting belief I had about money, I also had about love. At the time I was actively working on my money stories, so I actually had a few more limiting beliefs around love.
What made this exercise so powerful wasn't just the overlap. It gave me a chance to step back and stop treating money and love like these mystical forces that just happened to me, outside of my control. Instead I could see that I was an active participant in both relationships, and that my thoughts and stories were driving the results I was living out.
I'd heard for years that money and love are deeply connected. This exercise made it real. That might not be true for everyone, but for those of us who find that same thread running through both, it's a real wake up call.
I think this same exercise works beautifully for sex and intimacy too. Personify each one. Look at your relationship with it. Put it next to money and love and see what threads are consistent across all of them, and where you actually have some more empowering stories already in place. And if you're not sure what your thoughts and stories are, look at your life. Look at what's in your bank account. Look at the relationships you're in. They'll tell you.
This isn't about blame. It's about looking at these parts of your life with compassion and curiosity. What's my story here? Is this my relationship with this part of my life? Do I like it? Do I want to keep it? Is it serving me, or am I ready to let it go and write something new?
This is the work I've been building since 2022, for myself and for the people I work with. It's genuinely life changing.
I'm sharing this activity so you can take your own step back and look honestly at your relationship with money, love, intimacy, and sex. Treating them like people, not just abstract forces, is what makes it hit different. You start to see you're in an ongoing relationship with each of them, and that the way you think and feel about them is connected to what is and isn't showing up in your life.
Try it. Hold yourself in love and compassion while you do, because it can bring up a lot. Maybe do it with a friend or two you trust.
And if this stirs something in you and you're ready to go deeper... create new relationships with these parts of your life, new stories, and actually live them out... reach out. I offer a 60 minute discovery call where I walk you through where you are, where you want to go, and a path to get there. Even if we never work together, that hour alone will give you insight and clarity. XO, Lisette Send me an email: hello@lisetteostrander.com
