A Different Conversation About Perimenopause and Menopause: The Conversations I Want to Have This Summer

This summer, I'll be creating more videos & content around how to experience more aliveness, connection, and pleasure in life and s*x.
As part of that conversation, I'll also be sharing resources and having conversations with experts in the menopause space.
Over the years, I've created opportunities for people to connect with practitioners & experts in the menopause space to learn more. I look forward to continuing those conversations.
➡️ One thing I've been noticing lately is the subtle (& sometimes not-so-subtle) doom-and-gloom messaging around perimenopause & menopause.
😲 Today I saw a clip where someone described menopause as "castration."
I understand why these conversations are happening.
For so long, people weren't talking about perimenopause/ menopause, & many people suffered in silence without information or support.
I'm grateful that the conversation is becoming more mainstream & that more people are getting the education and care they need.
➡️ At the same time, I often feel like the overall message paints a picture of inevitable decline.
I was thinking the other day that if I were 35 right now & seeing much of the messaging that is out there, I would probably be freaking out.
Honestly, I'm 48, and if I hadn't spent the last several years learning from my s*x and intimacy training and from different practitioners in the menopause space, including Dr. Cari Schaefer, DACM (The Menopause Midwife), I might be freaking out too.
Or maybe not freaking out, but resigned. Thinking, "Well, this is it. This is just what happens."
From my perspective, so much of the messaging focuses on decline & suggests that the only way to feel vibrant, maintain a great s*x life, or age well is through medical interventions.
And while medical interventions, including hormone therapy, have been incredibly helpful and life-changing for many people, that is only part of the conversation.
I am especially interested in s*x & intimacy because of the work I do...
One of the things I appreciate most is that for the past several years, I have been immersed in spaces that approach these topics differently, especially when it comes to perimenopause & menopause.
In the mainstream conversation, I often hear about loss of desire, v*ginal atrophy, dryness, discomfort, & disconnection from the body.
What I don't hear enough about in the mainstream conversation is that these experiences are not inevitable....
or that there are mindset shifts, practices, skills, & approaches that can help people stay connected to themselves, their bodies, their pleasure, and their s*xuality so they can continue to experience incredible s*x, pleasure, & connection during this time and beyond.
⭐⭐ What I have learned is that decline is not inevitable and that it is possible to have incredible s*x, pleasure, & aliveness as you age (if that is what you desire!).
There is so much more I want to say but I will leave here for now. Follow along for more info and reach out if you have any questions.
P.S. If you're reading this and thinking, "I want a different experience than the one I'm being told is inevitable," I'd love to talk with you.
I offer a complimentary one-hour conversation where we can explore practical ways to create more pleasure, connection, and aliveness.
